Windows Registry Errors and How They Hurt Your Computer's Performance

Author: Dex Dillo

You have checked, and your computer does not have a virus. There is no spyware. Why on earth is your computer so slow? Don't let the age of the computer be the first thing you look to. You might need to look a little deeper with a wonderful tool that scans your registry, finds the errors and fixes them.

The registry is like the instruction manual your computer uses. Every program, function, or piece of hardware has information stored in the registry. When you tell your computer to do something, it goes to the registry to locate the instructions on how to complete that order. Every single time you add a program or hardware, information is added to the registry. Sometimes, mistakes are made. You may get duplicate lines or redundant information mixed into what you need. If you remove a program or device, the registry entries may not be removed. As you can see, it really doesn't take too much for the registry to grow to an enormous size. The more information there is, the more the computer has to go through to get the right instructions. This, not age, can really affect a computer's speed.

Fixing registry errors is not difficult. Sure, if you were to go into your registry and try to edit it and manually remove lines of information, it would not only take hours upon hours, unless you are a very advanced computer user, chances are you will remove something that is crucial to your system. Luckily, there are several registry scanners that you can download. These wonderful programs go through everything that is in your registry and creates a list of lines that are duplicates, unnecessary or just shouldn't be there. These programs will then automatically fix your registry with the click of a button, speeding up your computer, and avoiding real problems, like the blue screen of death.

Ignoring registry issues will not make them go away. The longer you wait to take care of it, the more problems you will have and the slower your computer will become. Don't run out and buy a new computer. Instead, run a registry scan, and clean out the useless instructions. You will be surprised at how much of a difference it can make.
