How to Fully Clean a Virus Off Your Personal Computer

How to Fully Clean a Virus Off Your Personal Computer

Author: PrinceDavid

If you are anything like I am, you have been infected by at least one virus and occasionally have a really hard time removing it. I will show you to remove these tough viruses without having to rebuild your computer or pay someone big money to do so.

Ok so you notice your computer is running very slow. You run your virus scan software and find one or more viruses. You clean them up and your computer still runs slow. You can’t figure out why so you run another scan and find out that the same virus is still on your computer. How does this happen?

Basically, there are viruses that will drop into protected system files or startup files that hide within your computer. Sometimes they cannot be removed without rebuilding your computer but there are a few ways around this.

First things first, get a computer toolkit ready to destroy the virus on multiple levels. I recommend a spybot scanner, adware scanner, and virus scan. Plus it always helps to have a strong registry cleaner. Once you have all of these tools ready to go, get them updated fully and download the latest versions of each if possible. After you have updated all of these tools DISCONNECT your internet connection from the computer.

It is essential to disconnect from the internet because most of the imbedded viruses will connect to their host site after the main piece is removed and will download and install itself again without you knowing. Run all of your scan utilities first and restart your computer after they have finished. Once the computer is started up, run the scans once more and restart if the virus is back. If you cannot remove the virus within three restarts, further action is required and will more than likely result in a rebuild.

If you remove it, run a registry clean to remove any leftover tag files. This will also help speed up your computer slightly. Refer to my article 5 Easy Tips To Keep Your Computer Running Smooth And Safe for more computer optimization tips. Restart once more and
connect to the internet once more. You should run one more scan to verify the virus is gone. If it is we are ready to go. If it isn’t removed you will have to take a couple more steps.

Use your scan utilities to find out exactly where the files are located and remove them from the registry. Be warned that removing registry files can break your operating system.

Using the Computer Monitor as a Scrying Mirror

Using the Computer Monitor as a Scrying Mirror

Author: Hecate

Scrying is one of the oldest known forms of divining the future. This method of divination has been around for as long as Mankind has existed and found that darkened puddles of water or polished pieces of black obsidian worked very well for catching glimpses into the unknown.

Over the millennia, everything from crystal balls of pure quartz or some other natural stone, to blown glass, or just a basic bowl of water with some ink poured in has been used for this purpose. Today we have the computer monitor. The computer monitor with a blank black background is the perfect scrying mirror for the Techno-witch. No need to deal with messy ink and water that can accidentally be spilled, nor is there any need to fork out a big wad of cash for a crystal ball. Everything you need is right in front of you.

All you simply need to do is blank out your wallpaper background into a basic black and clear your mind and surroundings of any distractions--just as you would when using any other scrying method. First, think of what it is you want to know about, then allow yourself to 'unravel' a bit and clear your mind of any other thoughts and gaze into the screen.

By using your computer monitor as your scrying mirror, you can also access your computer speakers. You can them play meditation music, binaural beats, or whatever else helps you achieve the contemplating Awareness State. For the beginning adept, using a sound aid for learning meditation can have a very positive effect on the process.

As with any form of scrying or divination, unless you are already rather adept at scrying, this will take practice. Don't be discouraged or disappointed if nothing seems to happen on your first try. Scrying is a talent that comes naturally to a very few. It is usually one that takes time and energy to develop.

This form of divination isn't for everyone, and luckily there are myriad forms of divining what the next day, week, months, or year may bring. However, if you decide to give scrying a good try then look no further than the perfect scrying mirror, your computer screen.

Power Surge: A Big Danger to Your Computer Hard Drive

Power Surge: A Big Danger to Your Computer Hard Drive

Author: elfinruler

In case of hard drive failure, many computer users think that their hard drive is ever lasting and everything that is stored on the hard drive is totally safe from any sort of failure. However, your perception of a risk and the reality of risk are generally two diverse things. Hard drive failure is a horrifying reality that may occur due to numerous reasons, and 'power surges' is one among them. No matter what the cause of failure is, it eventually leads to significant data loss. In the event of physical failure due to power surges or any other reasons, data recovery services are required to retrieve lost data.

Hard drive failure is inevitable, irrespective of the hard drive capacity and brand. Yet, hard disk users are frustrated by its failure. And, unfortunately there is no way of preventing the failure and stop it. You hear strange noises from your hard drive and your computer can not recognize the hard drive after power surges.

What is Power Surge?

A number of computer users do not buy a surge protector when they buy a computer. They may not purchase surge protector because they assume that their standard power supply is good enough to protect their computer. But, the computer hard drives contain extremely delicate electronics.

Hard drives contain a control circuitry or logic board and a number of wires. In case of power surges, any of these components may fail and make your hard drive dead. In such cases, hard drives may not spin and the data stored on the the hard drive platters will not be readable until the issue is fixed.

To save your hard drive from failure, you need to use some kind of power regulation for avoiding damage to hard drive when the power fluctuates. If the drive fails, hard drive recovery becomes need of the hour to make your drive functional and recover lost data.

Data Recovery Service is a personalized and sophisticated help, offered by data recovery professionals. A little Vintage Computer Monitor History

A little Vintage Computer Monitor History

Author: Arthur Fellon

Until the early 1980's most monitors were terminals. They were boxy video display terminals (VDT's) combined with an attached keyboard. A terminal could be configured to work with just about any computer on the market. (Not that there was a wide selection of personal computers for you to choose from.)

Terminals were attached to computers by a serial interface. In those days, the VDT was commonly referred to as a CRT (Cathode Ray Tube).

Before DOS, the dominant operating system (OS) for 8 bit computers was CP/M (Control Program for Microprocessors). Early CP/M machines were originally designed to use separate memory-mapped video display devices and discrete keyboards that plugged into the machines – not unlike video display cards used later. The most well known was the VDM-1. Terminal manufacturers recognized this "lost market "and began to market mainframe and mini-style terminals to the CP/M community. The sales pitch of "just like a real (mainframe at the time) computer" paid off. CP/M computers soon used terminals almost exclusively.

Apple II computers and the early game machines (such as those made by Atari, Coleco or Nintendo) hooked to a monitor not a terminal. (The Apple II was built with a keyboard as part of the system. All that was missing was a monitor once the Apple II was plugged in).

These monitors – unlike terminals – looked like television sets without the tuner. In some cases they actually were television sets. (Many early computers – such as the Commodores Vic 20, 64 and 128, could be used with any television set with a special RF adapter that hooked to the antenna of the TV).

Then IBM came out with PC-DOS computers, which were dubbed "three-piece computers.' One explanation according to a prominent used car dealer Moonie Bronstein was that many of the early marketers / hucksters advising the techies of the early computer era ,had their start in the competitive world of auto sales where such terms as " 3 piecers " and " 4 piecers" were popular marketing and sales terms. Other explanations for this marketing term was because the computers included three main components i.e. – the monitor, the keyboard and the CPU "box".

Ironically, when the IBM PC-DOS computers arrived on the scene with separate monitor and keyboard – the monitor connected directly to the computer. Just like the earliest personal computers) through a display device connection. These new monitors used video cards that were either IBM monochrome (MDA), IBM color graphics cards9 CGA), or Hercules (the first third party ad on cards).

Computer Desk Plans

Computer Desk Plans

Author: Horace Kerner

For a dedicated do it yourselfer, nothing brings more satisfaction than a well completed project. Building your own desk for your computer is a project worth contemplating if this is your hobby. A simple search on the Internet will bring in many computer desk plans to plan this project around. These plans come with parts lists and tools needed to make your planning of the project easier. The prices vary from no cost to a high of less than fifty dollars for the computer desk plans. You will be able to find computer desk plans in your local craft and hobby store as well.

A search for computer desk plans available at web sites on the Internet will turn up thousands of woodworking sites with plans available. The prices for the plans will vary with the method you choose to obtain them. Some sites will be happy to mail you a set printed on paper. Other sites will only have downloads available, leaving the printing all in your hands.

When making purchases from web sites on the Internet, always be sure that your order is done on a secure page. You can tell when a page is secure by looking at the pages address on your browser. Secure page addresses will always with https:// instead of the normal http://. If the order page is not secure, do not put any information on the page as it will be susceptible to hijacking. You can try contacting the owners of the web site to find a more secure method of ordering. The only time you should have shipping charges involved is when the web site is mailing a paper copy of the plans to you instead of you downloading the computer desk plans. On the sites I visited that had this option available, the shipping charges were reflected in the price of the plans.

Now that you have obtained the computer desk plans, the fun of starting the project begins. Finding a good lumberyard with reasonable prices for your wood will be easy if your choice of wood is pine or bonded plywood. If you want to make the desk out of select hardwoods, a little more effort will be required. You can get the wood in more or less bulk form and do the entire cutting yourself or have the lumberyard pre cut your wood to size. With precut pieces, you will still have to do all the finishing and assembly of the wood into the final state of your computer desk.

You have gotten your wood, cut it to size, sanded it to perfect smoothness and stained and sealed it against use. The final assembly will best be done in the location where you plan to use the desk. That way you will not have to move the desk after it is assembled. The feeling of satisfaction you experience every time you sit down at the computer, knowing that you built this desk with your own hands will make the purchase of your computer desk plans well worth the money you spend on them.

Keep Your Computer Clean

Keep Your Computer Clean

Author: Rich Agnew

Ever hear a strange noise coming from your computer. Maybe it sounds like a plane about to take off. That's the sound of a fan that needs to be cleaned. You may notice that your computer case has holes in the front and side. These holes allow air to pass through the case. Usually air is pulled from the front of the case over the hard drive past the motherboard and out the back of the case. Usually there are two fans that accomplish this. One fan is usually mounted on the back of the case and the other is in the power supply. There is also a fan that is located on top of the CPU's heatsink. The outer rim of the fans will eventually get a build up of dirt around them. This will cause the fan to wobble causing it to make noise or even stop.

The best way to clean your computer is with a can of compressed air. Simply take the cover off of the case and spray the inside with the compressed air. Spray the fans and make sure they spin easily. Check the heatsink and make sure you clean it well. If it is full of dust the system could start shutting down on its own or you will start to get blue screen errors. Make sure you clean the fan in the power supply. Don't worry about spraying air inside the main concern is to make sure that the fan does not stop because of dirt.

If you want you can also clean any add on cards contacts or even your memory contacts. All you need is a pencil eraser. Simply run the eraser across the card or memory sticks contacts. Make sure you clean off any loose piece of eraser left behind.

If you want to clean your keyboard try using a paint brush. You can use a little glass cleaner as well.

Finally a handy trick for cleaning the outside of your case is to use hand cleaner. You can find hand cleaner in most automotive stores.

COMPUTER MOUSE IS VERY IMPORTANT PART OF COMPUTER

COMPUTER MOUSE IS VERY IMPORTANT PART OF COMPUTER

Computer mouse is a pointing device that functions by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface and physically, a mouse consists of an object held under one of the user's hands, with one or more buttons on it. Computer mouse sometimes features other elements, such as "wheels", which allow the user to perform various system-dependent operations, or extra buttons or features can add more control. Its motion typically translates into the motion of a pointer on a display, which allows for fine control. Mouse name was originated at the Stanford Research Institute, derives from the resemblance of early models (which had a cord attached to the rear part of the device, suggesting the idea of a tail) similar to common mouse.

Computer mouse comes with most computers and many other varieties can be bought separately apart from the computers bought. It is a device that controls the movement of the cursor or pointer on a display screen or a monitor. It is a small object you can roll along a hard, flat surface which is called the mouse pad. The name is derived from its shape, which looks a bit like a mouse, its connecting wire that one can imagine to be the mouse's tail, and the fact that one must make it scurry. When you move the mouse the pointer on the display screen moves in the same direction as mouse. Computer mouse contains at least one button and sometimes as many as three, which have different functions depending on what program. Newer mice also include a scroll wheel for scrolling through long documents.

How can you deal with the computer without hurting your eyes

How can you deal with the computer without hurting your eyes

Author: conor

Computer vision syndrome is the number-one workplace complaint. There's no evidence that computer vision syndrome causes long-term damage to the eyes, but it can cause eyestrain and discomfort. Computer vision syndrome symptoms might include blurred vision, eyestrain, headaches, fatigue, dry eyes, and difficulty focusing, red eyes, These symptoms (Computer Vision Syndrome - CVS) however are
caused not by the computer screen itself but rather by the conditions surrounding the
computer screen, such as poor lighting or improper placement of computer equipment
and computer furniture.
Using a computer does not cause permanent damage to your eyes. However working on a computer is a demanding visual task that can cause eye discomfort. If you have an uncorrected vision problem, this can make computer use uncomfortable and can lead to blurred vision and eye strain, because After a long day in front of the computer, it is common to start feeling tired, irritable, or pain in the eyes or head. Staring at computers and forgetting to relax and give the eyes a break can cause permanent damage and eye problems.
No one is expected to live a life without computers; we all need them and are use to them being a part of our daily lives. However, it is important to listen to our bodies and relax or take a break when necessary.
Listen to your body; it knows better than you do when it’s time for a break. Do not work until your eyes burn; you missed all the previous signs. Take short breaks every hour of work. This means get at least once every hour and walk around. However, taking breaks isn’t enough. Look away from the screen every 15-20 minutes for a minute or two. Look at things close and far away to allow the eyes to adjust and move around. The goal is to avoid the strain in the first place.
Blink as often as you can to keep the eyes lubricated. Take a few minutes to roll the eyeballs around; you can do this with your eyes open or closed to avoid looking silly. Open and close your eyes often to give them a short break. Yawn if you have too. Yawning stretches out the jaw muscles and keeps them from becoming tense causing headaches and eyes strain.
Move around as much as possible. You should always be in a comfortable position so adjust your body or chair as often as needed. Move the keyboard or monitor so you aren’t stretching your neck or looking at things at a strange angle. Try to avoid glare on the monitor, move it around as the sun moves or get a screen protector.
Keep the work area bright and well lit. Bright lights lighten up the mood and keep you feeling positive. Dim lights only bring down your mood and cause you to feel sluggish. Making minor changes in the work space and taking breaks often can keep long hours in front of the computer from permanently damaging the eyes.
• Don’t forget to:
• Take regular breaks every 15minutes.
• Look around at objects that are at different distances
• Try to blink often.
• You should also keep a distance from the computer monitor.

How To Solve Computer Monitor Display Problems That Caused By A Defective Screen Grid Voltage (G2)

How To Solve Computer Monitor Display Problems That Caused By A Defective Screen Grid Voltage (G2)

Author: VineetB

Computer Monitor display problems such as no display with high voltage symptom can be caused by many reasons. A defective picture tube, a faulty video preamplifier IC, a missing heater voltage, torn signal cable, negative G1 voltage became too high (-120 volt and above), CRT board problems, a missing or low G2 voltage and etc could cause no display but with the present of high voltage.

In this article I’m going to show you how to tackle a missing or low G2 voltage problem. First, you must confirm if there is high voltage present at the monitor. You can use a high voltage probe to measure the anode voltage (24 KV) or you can try to listen to the high voltage sound produced (if you are experienced enough) once the monitor is switch on If the high voltage is present then your focus should be in the screen grid voltage (G2) circuit. If there is no high voltage, then I will explain it in another article.

How to confirm if G2 voltage present at the pin of the CRT board? By placing your positive probe (red probe) to the G2 point and negative probe to cold ground with power on, your meter should registered some reading. For your information, certain types of computer monitors, if you place your multimeter to the G2 point it would caused the monitor to shut down due to the caused of impedance loading of your meter. Assuming you measured a low G2 voltage say 20 volts dc (a good G2 voltage is somewhere between 250 â€" 300 + DC volt), the next step you should do is to isolate the problem to see whether is the G2 circuit that dragged down the voltage or the flyback transformer focus/screen voltage divider that had gone bad.

Switch off the monitor and desolder the G2 wire from the CRT board. Place your probe accordingly (red probe to G2 wire and black probe to cold ground) Now, switch on the monitor and begin to see the meter readout. If the reading you get is still about 20 volts or higher a little bit then suspect a defective flyback. You can also try to adjust the screen voltage control of the flyback. If it already turned to maximum then the flyback need to be replaced. You can also use a cheaper way to solve it. Use a monitor blur buster to add in and defeat the original focus/screen cable and use the cable from the monitor blur buster to act as focus and G2. Thus, with this method the newly tapped G2 voltage could be solder it back to its original location and you will get a display when the monitor is switched on!

Now, what if the readout from your meter shown 250 to 300+ volts dc when the G2 wire voltage checked out of circuit? This is a very clear indication that there could be components that pulling down the G2 voltage to 20 vdc. From experienced, the resin coated type high voltage ceramic disc capacitor (usually in the 1-3 KV range) had caused quite a number of monitors became no display due to the capacitor pulling down the G2 voltage.

If you measure the high voltage capacitor with a digital capacitance meter or tester, chances are very high it reads okay (within the capacitance range). The truth is, you cannot rely on digital capacitance meter to test the capacitance value only, in fact this high voltage capacitor have a high tendency to breakdown when under full load or operating voltage. The capacitor can only be accurately test by a special meter like the Sencore LC103 capacitor analyzer.

The cost of this meter is very high, so what I did I bought a Kyoritsu insulation tester for checking the high voltage capacitor purposes. Just clip on the capacitor leads under test and press start, a good capacitor will show some charge and discharge reading but the spoilt one will remained high and would not discharge.

Replacing only the bad high voltage capacitor made the G2 voltage rise back to normal and solve the computer monitor display problems. Hope you enjoy this article and please feel free to drop by website to learn electronic repair tips and secrets everyday.

Things You Can Do To Remove A Trojan from your Desktop Computer

Things You Can Do To Remove A Trojan from your Desktop Computer

Author: JohnNival

A Trojan Horse virus is a type of malicious viruses, or programs, which can affect your computer in a number of negative ways, causing damage to your system possibly putting your individual information at jeopardy. Trojans infect your system disguised as or packed with seemingly harmless programs, like screensavers and photo managers, that invade your computer at installment. You can get a trojan virus by opening a file or running a program that has one. These kinds of malware can wipe your drives, turn your computer on and off at seemingly random times, create holes in your firewall program, log your pins and account numbers and a lot more.

Security Suites - Most computer systems include at least a demo edition of security suites, and for those who have one installed you might want to use it to scan your laptop. If not, or if the trial has run out, it is crucial that you install one and run it Since most trojans can disseminate themselves on your hard drive it is vital to delete the file once located, not only put it in quarantine. It isn't hard to find antivirus software that is both effective and absolutely free. If you want much more bells and whistles, to be able to have much more control over your computer security or scans, there are a variety of security services you'll be able to buy as well. HouseCall and Trend Micro are also two programs you might want to look at which are especially aimed at trojan removal. They both operate from web browsers instead of your system, trojans have a harder time remaining undetected.

Do It By Hand - If your anti-virus freezes or is unable to remove the trojans you will need to go at it manually. Check the log from your cirus scan to see if if found anything which may give a clue where to go to route the problem out. Pressing CTL ALT DEL you can watch the processes that are running on your system to see if anything sticks out. You may have to select to run the process manager as the Admin if you have any OS after XP. If anything stands out it's alright to stop the process , or at least investigate it online.

Find The Infection Point - Knowing what trojan you are dealing with is often the most important step in getting rid of it, and often in order to do this you will need to figure how it got on your system. This can help a lot of enough people have also been effected by it, as there will be a lot of chatter about it online. Search for the trojan horse virus by name, by symptom or by the file it came hidden in. Often you can find message boards full of comments, questions and hopefully answers concerning the same virus.

Community boards - Sometimes you are able to find technical support message boards which can help, although regularly frustrating as well if just about any of the members are trolls. Most communities have a thread or two dedicated specifically to virus problems. Word to the wise, don't be the first to try the fix. Wait until someone a lot more experienced has confirmed that it works to avoid causing undue damage to your own computer. If a handful of people have tried it you are probably good to go.

Remember that because trojans are categorized not for what they do, or how they hide on your system but by how they get on your laptop, not every suggestion you discover will probably be applicable to your situation.

OS Reinstall - Here is your last ditch, Hail Mary, attempted the rest alternative. It's extreme, but even the best and brightest of the malware removal world have had no other recourse but to do it. Attention, make sure you have every thing backed up before you begin this. Even when your recover program claims it can undergo the process and retain all your files, this really is one time where being safe in no way hurts and being sorry usually does. Reinstalling your operating system can take hours, but your computer will run as smoothly as it did when you first got it, so at least you have that to look forward to.

If at any point or at any step in this process you have any questions or doubts about what you are doing you need to speak to a specialist in virus removal.

Going by the number of questions we've seen coming in from our readers, there is a lot of interest in copying Xbox games. We all make copies of music CDs all the time - but is it possible to copy Xbox game discs the same way? If this can be done, how do you go about it?

We're going to tell you how to do this easily so that you can start copying Xbox games. There is one thing that we need to tell you beforehand though.

We are not endorsing the illegal copying of Xbox games (meaning ones which you do not own). What we're going to show you is meant to be used to make backup copies of your own Xbox games, which is perfectly legal and gives you a backup copy of your games in the event that one of your discs is damaged or lost.

So without further ado, let's go into how to backup your Xbox games. It's not complicated, so you ca put your notebook away - it's very simple to start copying Xbox games.

You might be asking why you can copy Xbox games with the same software that you would use to make copies of audio discs.

The short answer is that copying Xbox games takes some technologies which your existing CD burning program doesn't have.

Modern video game discs (including Xbox games) are copy protected; so unless you have the right program installed, your computer will be unable to read the disc. If you can't read the data on the disc, you aren't going to be able to make a copy of it.

Thankfully, software has been developed to get around this encryption and make copies of video game discs. Once you've installed the software, you'll be able to read those discs - so you can start copying Xbox games.

When you've downloaded and installed this program, there's really nothing to it. You place the game disc in your optical drive, your computer will read the disc and create a disc image; then all you have to do is to put a blank DVD-R in the drive and your computer will copy the game to disc.

It's so simple that literally anyone can do it.

Remember that you don't need to pay a lot of money for these programs. In fact, the best ones around are between $30-$40, but some companies will charge over $100! While you can pay as much as you want, you won't get better software just because you pay more.

This software gives you a simple way to start copying Xbox games. It's easy enough for anyone to do and you can protect your game library by making backups of all your games.

Save Your Computer from Virus Attack

Save Your Computer from Virus Attack

Author: Dennis Carter

Virus is a very common term we keep hearing regularly whenever the topic of computers comes up. What exactly are viruses? What harm do they do to a computer? Can you protect your computer from a virus attack? These are some common questions that one comes across in any discussion regarding virus. Let’s first try and understand what exactly is meant by a virus.

Virus can be defined as a computer program that can easily replicate itself and lead to serious damage in the computer. They are the modern day’s electronic terrorist that are spreading fast and affecting computers all over the world. A virus can be mistaken as spyware, adware and malware. However, it is not so. These programs affect the computer but cannot replicate themselves and are thus not to be taken as a virus. They cause less harm than a virus can. But when we talk of computer virus it includes virus, malware, adware and spyware. Don’t be too sure that you may immediately be able to detect the presence of a computer virus; there are many computer viruses that behave surreptitiously and go unnoticed by the user.

Here are some tips that can help prevent a computer virus from attacking your system.

1. Install updated and good quality Anti-Virus software that provides complete protection from spyware, adware and malware too. Schedule a complete system scan at least once a week to keep your system clean.

2. Install only original operating system on your computer. At the time of purchase you may get attracted to the lower priced computer with pirated software, but this one time saving may result into a long term headache for you. Pirated software cannot be updated from the manufacturer’s website as it is illegal and it would not have all the update for security purpose. Secondly, while making the pirated version of the operating software the security BIOS has to be altered to make it viable. This makes the pirated version more susceptible to computer virus than a genuine operating system. Get an original operating system installed and keep updating it regularly for regular protection.

3. Do not open emails, messages that come from an unidentified sender. You may be tempted to open the mail that claims you are the winner of $100,00,000 but hold yourself. These are tricks to get you to click their link just ONCE and the computer virus has made its way to your system. These are tricks to infect your system and pass sensitive information like bank information, passwords, credit card information, and personal details to the miscreants. They may use this information to hack into your bank accounts and wipe-out your bank account leaving you bankrupt in a single day. On a more serious note they may use your personal details as the personal details of their terrorists to pass of as regular citizens and you may face serious legal trouble if your name and details get exposed in any racket.

As a rule always keep a back-up of your data on the computer. You can use the traditional CD’s and DVD’s to keep a back-up of your data or use the online data back-up services too. There are many operating systems like Windows 7 that have a data backup and recovery option in the software itself. Computer viruses can cause smaller issues like slowing your system to major issues like having an identity theft. Take adequate precaution to keep yourself and your data safe. After all, no cost is too big if it keeps you safe and protected.

Computer SMPS Service Manual – Detailed Information on Finding Gold Quality SMPS Repair Manual

Computer SMPS Service Manual – Detailed Information on Finding Gold Quality SMPS Repair Manual

Author: Info Spreader

If you need a computer SMPS service manual, then allow me to share with you a few tips to ensure you get only the best quality manual.

I know it's not easy to find a high-quality manual for servicing and repairing switch mode power supplies or SMPS. Actually, I've downloaded a couple of PDF repair guides but they weren't much help.

Here are some negative things about those guides…

(1) The instructions were difficult to understand.

(2) The instructions were not organized in a proper manner. For example, basic chapters like "understanding SMPS components" and "how to read schematic diagrams" were placed at the END of the manual!

And worst of all…

(3) Those computer SMPS service manuals did not have any step-by-step photo instructions!

Now I'm going to tell you how I discovered the best guide on troubleshooting and fixing all types of SMPS – not just computer SMPS.

The first thing I did was visit an online forum that is related to the subject of electronics. Believe me, you'll find many seasoned technicians hanging around electronics forums.

Some are very friendly and would be willing to offer valuable tips, advice and resources. In fact, I found a very high quality computer SMPS service manual thru recommendation from a respected forum member.

So you should definitely seek help from online forums. If you post your questions properly, you'd great answers from forum members including links to the best resources on repairing SMPS.

A couple more tips…

Make sure you get a SMPS repair guide that teaches you everything in a step-by-step fashion AND provides in-depth information on safety guidelines, tools and test equipment to conduct proper SMPS repair and troubleshooting.

Some SMPS reparation manuals do not provide such information which I think is a shame because topics on safety and testing tools are absolutely crucial.

Lastly…And this is very, very important!

Try obtaining a manual that includes PERSONAL email consultation support from technicians who are experts in repairing SMPS.

If you have personal email access to an expert, then I guarantee you'll have very little trouble repairing faulty switch mode power supplies.

Think about it, any problems you may have can easily be addressed by sending an email to the expert. Now that's POWERFUL!

Computer SMPS service manual that offers the benefits mentioned above can be found by going to

VHS to DVD Computer Programs

VHS to DVD Computer Programs

Author: kgilbertvhs

There are those of us who want to hold on to our vast VHS collections. However, no matter how well you store them, the degradation that VHS tapes experience is all but assured. If you really want to keep that media, you have to convert them to DVD, a nearly-infinite form of media if it's stored adequately. With the help of VHS to DVD conversion software and the right computer, you can find a lot of benefits to this method, like the ability to edit down your videos and previewing them before you burn them to DVD.

Your computer will really open up the options you have at your disposal when transferring VHS to DVD, given that you have the right programs. If you want to capture analog video and burn it onto a DVD, your computer needs the following things:

A. Software For Video Editing - Your Video Capture Device will work with this program, as you can easily edit and burn the media afterwards. Depending on the software package you get, you will get far different prices, learning curves, and features.

B. Video Capture Device - Your computer needs to be able to capture your VHS tape's analog signals and store them digitally for later conversion. A capture device or card is the best way to do this, as you just plug it in and have it convert.

C. DVD Burner - In order to make that DVD, you need a DVD burner so you can export the file from your computer to the DVD player.
For the most part, you might need to take the time to buy each individual thing, but you can find capture device/software bundles on the market.

VHS2DVD Wizard (VHS2DVDWizard.com)

You can run VHS2DVD Wizard on just about any recent Windows OS, and you will get all of the tools you require to start converting. In this bundle, you will get a USB video capture device, an RCA video cable, and the software CD, giving you a one-stop method of getting your videos converted to DVD. If you are nervous around computers, you can find easy to use tutorials that enable you to find all the information necessary to get the job done. Your conversion process will be extremely easy with the help of the software included with this package, and you will be able to edit out all the stuff you don't want before you finish the DVD burning process. Even if your VHS tape has copy protection, it will copy it for you.

NCH Golden Video

With the help of NCH Golden Video, you will be able to easily convert your VHS video cassettes to a digital format. You can use the simple wizard that enables you to install the program, and you could use the image restoration tools to make your conversion easier. If you have slight degradation in the image quality of your VHS tape, these features can really come in handy. You will also be able to have it automatically stop when the video is over, making the capture process a lot easier. With the help of this software, you do not need a lot of technical skills in order to put titles and menus on your DVD, as well as tweaking effects and changing the audio levels. The software itself has CD/DVD burning applications, making it your one stop shop for VHS conversion and DVD burning.

While you can run this application on any form of Windows OS, you do not get the capture device, so you will have to buy that on your own.

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD

In terms of DVD playback and video/audio software for the home PC, there is no more popular name than Roxio, and a lot of people know the chief products in their line of software. With this Easy VHS to DVD software bundle, you get an easy to use USB video capture device. You can use the Easy VHS to DVD application with any form of Windows, but it takes a while to install the program, and will take a lot of effort. If you are not very knowledgeable about computers, you might have some trouble. With the help of this application, you can also have trouble converting your home videos, as it will often think that they are copy protected and cease to convert.

In the event that this is the bundle that you get, it is recommended that you just keep the USB capture device and throw the disk away, opting instead for a different program that is easier to use.

Honestech VHS to DVD

You will get a USB video capture device with this software bundle, however, so you can hook your camera or VHS to your computer. With this software, you can keep it at beginner mode, or change to advanced level if you want to change things around a bit. From Windows XP to Windows 7, you will find that it is a simple matter to install this capture device.

While there is a video capture device included, be aware that the program will take up a lot of resources, requiring you to have a fairly advanced machine to run it. If you do, though, you can convert Macrovision or copy protected VHS tapes in addition to your home movies.

Windows XP Computer Hangs With Black Screen at Startup

Windows XP Computer Hangs With Black Screen at Startup

Author: brad jerry

When you attempt to start you Microsoft Windows XP- based computer, the system might appear to hang (stop responding) with a black, empty screen immediately after the POST (Power-On Self Test) operation completes. The situation occurs just before the MS Windows XP logo appears on your system's screen. This behavior of Microsoft Windows XP occurs every time when you boot your system and the system does not start.

It renders all of your hard drive partitions and critical data inaccessible and cause serious partition loss situations. At this point, you need to carry out Windows Partition Recovery to retrieve lost partitions and stored data.

Root of the problem

There are two possible reasons that might cause this issue. It occurs when any of the below conditions are true:

This problem may take place if you've any CD, DVD or floppy disk in your CD, DVD or floppy drive, at the time when you boot your Windows computer.

This issue is caused due to corruption or deletion of some critical system resources. These data structures do not load when your system tries to boot and thus the boot sequence could not complete successfully. These critical system resources include:
MBR (Master Boot Record)
Boot Sector
Partition Table
NTLDR (NT Loader) file

At this point, system does not boot and thus the hard drive partitions could not be accessed. In order to retrieve lost partitions and gain access of your data, you need to perform Partition Recovery by resolving this problem.

Solution

To sort out this behavior of Microsoft Windows XP computer, follow underwritten steps:

Solution for cause one

Remove CD, DVD or floppy drive from your system and reboot it.

Solution for cause two

To fix this problem, Windows XP boot CD is required. Take a XP CD and follow any of the given methods:

Troubleshoot the particular element that is preventing your system from booting.

Repair Microsoft Windows installation.

When all else fail, Partition Recovery is required to salvage affected hard drive and extract lost data. This is best possible using powerful and effective commercial Partition Recovery Software. The applications are capable of methodically scanning Windows hard drive and retrieving all lost partitions and stored data. With interactive and simple graphical user interface, the applications are completely easy to use and do not demand sound technical skills.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most advanced Partition Recovery Software tool to ensure successful recovery in majority of partition loss situations. It recovers all FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions. The tool works well with Microsoft Windows 7 RC1, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.

Zombie PCs, Home Computer Hacking, and Drive-by Hacking

Zombie PCs, Home Computer Hacking, and Drive-by Hacking

Author: Etienne A. Gibbs

Zombie PCs, Home Computer Hacking, and Drive-by Hacking
By Etienne A. Gibbs, MSW
Internet Safety Advocate

Spyware, Keyloggers, Hackers, Cyber Terrorists, Cybercriminals, Cybergangs, etc. These threats are real and the fact is your computer is most likely infected already! Cybercrime is on the rise. You may not be the only one using your computer. Hackers may be using your computers and you may not even know it. Would you ever know it if your computer were taken over and being used by a hacker? Not likely. When a hacker hijacks a computer, the victim rarely knows. A computer that has been hijacked is one that is completely taken over by a hacker, or a group of hackers, to be used for their own purposes. The idea is that the real owner of the computer never knows their system has been hijacked, so the hackers can secretly use it whenever and however they want.

One of the latest hacking trends is called "Drive-by Hacking". Popular wireless Internet access points have now become a major target for hackers. Hackers simply take their laptop computers in their cars and drive through business parks or residential neighborhoods remotely scanning for open wireless networks. This is the latest version of the drive-by garage door remote theft where criminal would use universal remote controls to open garage doors without arousing the suspicions of neighbors, police, or home security companies.

Today millions of businesses and homes have implemented wireless networks for their convenience, and, sadly, for the convenience of the cybercriminals. And they don’t even have to open your garage door to enter your home or business.

Now hackers can simply pull up outside, up to 600 feet away, and gain access to the network, the Internet, and every computer on the network. This kind of hacking has become so popular that you can even find public websites around the globe that sell maps to all the known "open" wireless networks.

Once your computer has been hijacked, the hacker claims ownership of your computer and there is little you can do unless you protect your computer in advance against this threat. In fact, in many cases when hackers have taken over a computer, they will even "heal" the computer by closing the security holes, so no other hacker can break into the computer and use it too. (Can you imagine? Criminals protect their hijacked computers from other criminals.)

Computers that have been hijacked and are under the control of a hacker are known as "zombies". Some of the more popular uses for a zombie computer include using it to send spam emails, distribute pornography, download illegal copies of software, and to anonymously attack another computer, a business, a website, or even a government agency.

There have been many cases in the U.S. and around the world where a business or home computer has been hijacked and used for illegal purposes without the computer owner's knowledge. These victims have had their computers used to distribute child pornography, deface websites, and even hack into government computers. In many cases, the owner of the hijacked computer (the business owner or the homeowner) has been arrested and hauled off to jail, only to be humiliated, demoralized and even convicted for crimes they didn't commit.

See ABC's 20/02 video about an unsuspected 16 year-old high schooler who was arrested as a child pornographer after his pc was hijacked and used to distribute child pornography. Click this link: ABC News' 20/20 video.

Hackers are very good at hiding behind their slave or zombie computers. A hijacked computer is a hacker's protection of anonymity. As unbelievable as it may seem, hijacked computers, zombie computers actually have a street market value in the hacker community. The better the computer and the faster the Internet connection of the slave machine, and the bigger the hard drive, the more it is worth on the market. Zombie computers are often leased out by hackers to other hackers, or even to organized crime groups, to be used for illegal purposes - without the computer owner's knowledge. If a hacker or a cybergang can take over a hundred or a thousand computers, they have an army of computers at their disposal.

Here are some facts:

* If your computer has become a "zombie" or a "slave" to a hacker, the use of your computer could be for sale somewhere on the Internet or an auction website. Your computer's power is valuable to hackers.
* Today, there are organizations that claim "ownership" of more than 450,000 zombie computers around the world that they use to anonymously send spam.

The best defenses are a combination of education and managed protection service. Off-the-shelve individual or combined anti-spyware, antivirus, and anti-spam software programs may not be sufficient protection, because hackers seem to stay one step of these programs. The popular off-the-shelf products offer you no personalized support. If you want help, you'll pay for it over and over again! If you need a virus removed with these cheap programs, you'll pay for it. You may get technical support from your PC manufacturer for security problems, but in most cases, you probably will not. Even if you do, it will likely be for a fee, and one that repeats itself should you need additional help down the road.

Because hackers will likely always be one step ahead of the security industry itself, software-based protection alone is not enough. 85% of current anti-virus users have been infected with a virus or worm! Have you ever had a virus you couldn't get rid of? Has your computer acted funny or has it slowed way down due to a massive spyware infestation? Does your computer have a virus, spyware, malware, or hacker hiding inside? Test it now to be sure. Go to www.SayNotoHackers.com/egibbs to take a free Internet security audit to determine which trojans and hacker spyware tools might be infecting your computers.

To protect yourself, you need an Internet security team of experts making sure that you, your family, and your business computer are always safe and secure. The best protection you can have in today's rapidly changing world of cyber-attacks is to have expert support for all your Internet security needs that will provide technical support without any hassles and without charging you extra fees. It will become even more critical than it is today as time goes on. You need to find your own personal team of experts to rely on. If you ever have a security problem, you will want to have a trusted expert you can call for professional help, without any hassles and extra costs!

Etienne A. Gibbs has become an Internet Safety Advocate after his pc was infected by a virus, spyware, and/or hacker. For more information about the protection (including free lifetime technical support and $25,000 identity theft insurance and recovery) package he uses and recommends to individuals and small business owners, visit www.SayNotoHackers.com/egibbs or email him at egibbs@myinvisusdirect.com.

New Sony Vaio VPCY11S1E/S Laptop Computer

Intel has moved with a 32nm production process for the new cpus, using more compact transistor sizes, allowing the chips for being more electricity efficient, having a TDP of simply 35W. Intel has additionally included a graphics processor on the chip, that eliminates the demand for a devoted graphics chip plus decreases electricity usage. Sony, nevertheless, has opted to make use of a devoted graphics chip in this case alternatively the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 as the integrated chip is not successful enough for performing current 3D games.

This particular VPCY11S1E/S laptop may be the 1st laptop we have noticed to make use of Intel's brand new Core i3 mobile processor, and for that reason we could not wait to benchmark it. A good overall rating of 77 may not really seem much, nevertheless considering that it really is comparative for the fastest laptop within our recent 700 laptop group test, we were duly impressed.

This quality finish and selection of interesting materials extends throughout the whole chassis, with attention to details as we would expect from a Vaio. As an example, the power button features a tiny LED indicator where it meets the side of the case, so it is still visible while the lid closed. Our mainly problem has been the DVD drive tray, that is flimsy and loose when open; a slot drive would have been a lot more in standing using the rest from the case.

Provided all this, its battery power rating of three hours fifteen mins was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the electric battery itself is not very huge and the dedicated graphics chipset negates every potential advantage from your processor's onboard GPU. We see this like a issue while using Sony Vaio VPCY11S1E/S laptop, instead of Core i3 laptops generally. That stated, at over three hours, it's still ample for occasional mobile usage.

A lot more extraordinary, is that its 2.13GHz Core i3-330M is the least expensive in the new line of processors; a selection that likewise contains mobile Core i5 and Core i7 chips along with base clock speeds up to 2.66GHz. All of the unique chips tend to be dual-core and have Hyper-Threading to enhance overall performance while multi tasking. The majority of processors in the line also use Intel's overclocking Turbo Boost technologies, which boosts clock speeds when the chip is not working near its peak heat range. Sadly, the entry-level Core i3 used in Sony Vaio VPCY11S1E/S laptop computer does not include this.

Sony's new VPC Line is a beautiful computer, with a subtle two-tone style. The lid and also the area over the laptop keyboard are a light silver colour, while on our model, the keyboard panel and also wrist rest had been finished in white. The wrist rest itself includes a sleek finish with a subtle twinkle, and is produced of a higher quality plastic that's comfortable to operate with and feels solidly created.

The dedicated ATI graphics card assisted the VPCY11S1E/S laptop reach almost 20fps within our Call of Duty 4 benchmark. This is not fast sufficient for gaming, however less action-oriented video games, for instance Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect 2 will probably run easily at reduced resolutions and with a lot more sophisticated graphics settings turned off.

HD video won't be a problem, and there's an HDMI port for delivering to a house entertainment system. The interior sound system are fairly loud, but tinny at higher frequencies and also lack bass, thus in case you want to make the most from movies you'd be advised to connect a good audio system.

The display is also much less amazing as we would hoped. It includes a slick finish which will reflect overhead lighting, and also vertical watching angles are tight. Colours are organic as well as energetic, but without LED backlighting, contrast is not as great as some displays we have witnessed recently. The backlight isn't as bright as some, though it is generally even, with just a couple of darker patches across the bottom edge.

Sony used to contain a large software program bundle including Adobe Photoshop Elements, but that's absent from this product. You still acquire lots of Sony utility software, although its usefulness is questionable, and also you get Sony's media center alternative, obtainable via a dedicated button over the laptop keyboard, which is slick yet doesn't actually add something that Windows' very own Media Center can't offer. An additional button commences the Vaio Care assistance software, that gives you access to troubleshooting, backup as well as recovery tools.
