RegCure Review: How RegCure Killed My Computer

RegCure Review: How RegCure Killed My Computer

Author: patricidy6r

Of late my computer had become too sluggish so someone suggested me to fix my Windows registry using RegCure. I had heard a lot of good and bad things about RegCure. Confused, I decided to check the reality myself.. I planned to download and register RegCure on my PC and test it out to see how far it works or if it works at all! So, I downloaded the free version of RegCure from ParetoLogic, and ran the customary scan on my PC. My very first experience with RegCure was far from satisfactory! In this article I will tell you about my experiences with RegCure.

Agreed that my computer was running very slow, and I knew there were problems in my registry, but I never thought that there would 1,023 invalid registry entries in my system! Well, that is what RegCure found out on 'deep' scanning! Anyhow, I proceeded with the registry repair but RegCure won't let me repair my registry unless I purchase the full version! Don't be fooled by the 'free download' that they advertise on their site - it is nothing except a hook All you can do with the free version is just fix your font, clear your Temp folder, etc., which you can do yourself even without its help! Anyways, since I was desperate to speed up my computer, I went ahead and paid $29.95. Fortunately I didn't purchase their web optimization software! I will tell you in a little while why I say 'fortunately'. Here is what happened after I registered RegCure on my PC.

I had RegCure delete all the 'invalid registry entries' from my system. I then rebooted my computer (it would automatically create backups every time you run it to repair the registry). Well, that is when I saw the hell that has happened! My computer would startup OK but every time my computer started up, Windows gave me an error message that "Winsock2 needs to be installed on this computer". Being a computer novice that I am, it was hard for me to understand what the error message actually meant! And well, there was more than that in store for me!

A little later when I tried to run one of my software programs from the Start Menu, I kept getting messages that certain DLL files were not functioning correctly so the programs needs to be closed! Well, before I had installed RegCure, those programs were functioning OK. I purchased RegCure simply to speed up my computer, but I never bargained for that I got! Well, since I was very confused about what to do next I decided to get in touch with RegCure support. To my surprise, I discovered I couldn't even access the internet!

In fact, I would get connected but couldn't surf the web. I tried it with both Internet Explorer as well as Firefox, but it just wouldn't work! Ultimately I decided to restore my old registry file (the backup that was created before RegCure repaired my registry) and see if that would work. Fortunately, with this, my computer was back to normal: the way it was before purchasing the software! I then contacted RegCure and reported this problem. I waited for a week but got no response from them. Finally, I decided that it is time to get my money back from them! To top it all, the version I installed didn't even come with an uninstaller! I had to remove the program from my computer through Control Panel=>>Add or Remove Programs, and then had to locate the RegCure folder on my hard drive and delete that as well!

I contacted their sales department at sales@regcure.com and asked for a refund. Again, I received no response. I wonder if there are any people behind the company or if this is a total SCAM! I wonder how it even made up to the top selling product in Clickbank! Even more surprising is the number of 'positive reviews' of RegCure that are scattered throughout the internet (apparently written by their associates).

Finally my friend told me to file for a refund with Clickbank. Well, nice to know that there is a little light at the end of the tunnel as I got my refund within 2 days! I decided to put up an honest review of RegCure here so that others can be saved from my hellish experience. I hope this review would prevent the gullible customers from falling for their marketing hype!

About the Author: I have been using PCs and notebooks, for sometime now. My fav is of course the notebook as it is very mobile, keeping in line with my Bohemian lifestyle. It was actually a friend who got me started in computers, otherwise I was pretty much the old fashioned pen-and-paper gal, so to speak! Getting good quality softwares and utilities for PC security is not an easy task, as I have lately discovered. There are more bad stuff than good, and I have made it a mission of my life to make people aware of both!

While MS Windows remains my favorite platform for Desktop-based PCs, as well as notebooks, it is Linux that I prefer when it comes to web servers. Linux is not only free and open source but also very robust! In fact, it has an equally robust and active community of developers behind it!

Thank you.
