Time and time again we are getting asked what is the most import part of a computer. What do I need to look at when I am buying a computer? I think that people get confused with all of the computer lingo and computer tech jargon that people use at the electronics stores when you go to buy a new computer. I have been recently to buy a new company computer and I was not sure about a new blue ray DVD burner that the computer was equipped with so I asked and got a bunch of tech talk that made no sense to me. I ended up leaving more confused than when I went in. We have all been there I understand that feeling. So let's take it slow and look at things in a simple way and make sure that when you go to buy a new computer you can focus on these things to make sure that you are getting a quality computer.

1. The first thing that is vital to having a quality computer is the processor. To make sure that you have a good speedy computer you need to have a fast processor. Basically the processors speed is measured in Ghz. A decent computer has 2.2Ghz or greater. A 2.2Ghz processor that is Duo Core is very nice to work with. Something to be aware of is that as with anything the better the processor the higher the computer cost might climb.

2. The next thing of importance is the computers RAM or the computer's memory. This is measured in GB's (gigabytes). I would recommend with Windows Vista out there which requires a fair amount of memory that you need 4GB. You can get away with less but the more that you cut down on the computers resources the more that your computer will lag and not be able to multitask as well.

3. The final thing that is important is the hard drive space. This is also measured in GB and is the place where your files, pictures and music will be saved. With programs getting bigger and bigger and more people using their computers regularly to store family pictures and music I would recommend no less than 250GB. The bigger the better. You can never have too much storage space.

If you go into the computer store with those things in mind you can almost be assured that you will get a quality computer. You will have a computer that will not be a slow one that you can use for years to come. Yes there are more to computers than just those three things but those three basics are the heart of what makes your computer.
