So you have a dilemma. Your computer is broken and, like the rest of us, you have come to depend very heavily on your computer so right about now you are probably about to totally freak out and hit panic overload mode. Am I right?

There are so many questions like "Why Me?" or "Why Now?" or "What am I going to do?" or …. Ok so you get the idea. But once you've finished kirkin' out or spazin out (depending on who you are), then the one and only question that really matters is finally going to hit you. "Where can I get this computer fixed?" That is the real question, isn't it?

Well, that's where the real problem actually begins. You see, good help is hard to find, or so they say. You could call the manufacturer of your machine. More than likely, they have a toll free number and will probably be "happy" to help you. The only problem with that is that every person I have ever talked to who has had this type of problem has called the experience a total nightmare. That is not to say that the manufacturer technical support isn't good and that there are people out there who have had a good experience going this route, I just don't happen to know any of them.

Usually one of two things happens; either the machine is out of warranty and that means you have to pay an arm and a leg to even get support or purchase an extended warranty (if the manufacturer offers it) or, the more common scenario, involves being on the phone for hours, usually on hold and going through multiple transfers to get to the "right department" and then spending more time on the phone listening to a "technician" trying to walk you through some troubleshooting. 9 times out of 10, you get someone from another country that you can't understand very well to begin with and then, even if you do get someone whose English you can understand, since you yourself are not technical, you still have problems understanding what it is they are trying to instruct you to do.

Now, let's say that the previous option feels somewhat daunting and you want to try something else. You could always try going to one of the major retailers. There are a few problems with this method as well. First of all, Circuit City is now defunct. Not that they were all that great in this department either, from what I've heard, but at least you had that option. Best Buy and Geek Squad are still around but I've also heard some pretty scary stories about their services. In addition to the 50/50 chance that you're taking that you will get your machine back in good working order, with all of your data intact (if your hard drive hasn't totally died) and not be charged an arm and a leg and be upsold a slew of additional items that you really didn't need, there's the headache of unplugging your machine and all of it's components and lugging it down to the store. Once it's there, I hope you aren't in a hurry to get it back because chances are it's going to be there a while.

Thankfully, you do have a few other options. If your computer is not totally wrecked and you can get on the internet, you have two options. You could do a search on the internet for a computer repair company in your area. The benefits of calling a local company are:

1) You have someone close by who can assist you when you need help. Whether you have a few technical questions or you need to purchase additional equipment, they will be there to assist you.

2) The larger and more established companies have technicians that can come out to your location.

3) When you need to purchase a system, a good service provider will assess your needs and recommend the right system for the tasks that you need it for.

4) The larger and more established companies have partnerships with the major manufacturers and, most times, can save you money on your purchases.

5) These companies generally will handle the warranties for your systems thus taking that burden off your hands.

6) If you choose the right company, they will be very well versed in the technical aspects of most operating systems, software programs, peripherals and networking and can, therefore assist you with the design, installation, configuration and integration of one system, a small to medium network or even a large multiple location WAN.

7) If you do need service and it is an emergency, most local companies can respond to you from 30 minutes or, at a minimum, the next day.

8) If you have a business and need a regular service provider, these companies generally offer a maintenance plan that can offer you many different options to suit your needs.

These are just a few of the advantages of using a local service provider. Keep in mind that, just as with any industry, there are good and bad service providers, so choose carefully. If you happen to be in the DC / Metro area, there is a local company that offers all of the benefits that I previously mentioned and more. Total Computer Solutions, Inc. (www.tcsidc.com) has been in business for 13 years and has a great reputation for getting the job done, saving their clients money and delivering exactly what the client is looking for.

Another great option, if your computer is running and you have internet access, is calling a company that does "remote repair." This option is becoming ore and more popular. You don't have to take your computer apart, pack it up and haul it to the store. You don't even have to leave your house or office. You just call them up and tell them what your problem is (or what you think the problem might be), and they can "remote in" (take control temporarily) of your machine and, usually within an hour (depending on the severity of your issues), they can have you back up and running.

Best Buy, Geek Squad and , to name a few, offer these services. Once again, these are what I like to call major companies. If you live in the DC / Metro Area, there is a great little company called EZ-Tech 911 (www.eztech911.com) who also offers these services. They have a great reputation, as well, and their prices are lower than the aforementioned majors and they are local to the area.

There you have it. The next time your computer crashes, you're having trouble loading a driver or you suspect you have a virus; don't throw your computer out the window, put down the sledgehammer and don't have a hissy fit, start stomping, crying or pulling your hair out. Try calling a local provider and you're sure to find yourself happy and humming along in no time.

Computer Internet Security: How Viruses Can Destroy Your E-Business

By: Barry Kareful

It is amazing how many people; both casual Internet "surfers" and online marketers choose to ignore computer internet security. Perhaps it is simply due to ignorance as to how widespread and dangerous computer viruses are or that they are simply "too cheap" to invest in quality internet security products. Then again it could be a matter of their naive belief that "it will never happen to me". Whatever the reason, with some computer industry reports claiming nearly 5,000 "new" computer viruses being discovered each year, whether you are a casual Internet surfer or a serious online marketer, you cannot afford not to take computer virus threats very seriously!

Just imagine logging into your computer one fine day to check your bank account or PayPal account only to find all your funds are gone! Your hard earned money, either from your traditional job or online business (perhaps both) have been stolen. Yes, there are viruses out there that are capable of gathering sensitive data (passwords, credit card information, etc.) from your computer without your knowledge and sending it back to the criminals that wrote the virus programs. Good-bye savings! So it is well worth your while to invest in the best internet security software that you can afford.

So what is a computer virus anyway? In simple terms, a computer virus is a program that has the ability to spread throughout your computer and/or network by attaching itself to your program files or host files. Once the computer virus has copied itself throughout your computer system, depending on the type of virus, it starts to interfere with the normal operation of your computer and /or network in a variety of ways which we will discuss in a later article.

Unfortunately computer viruses come in many different forms, so there is no one common cure that will prevent and destroy all the many viruses out there. Some of the more common viruses are:

  • Boot sector viruses that focus on infecting the boot sector of a hard drive as well as the "master boot record". Simply starting or "booting" your computer is enough to activate this nasty critter if your computer is infected.
  • File infector viruses like to go after your application programs by attaching themselves to the code of the host file. This allows them to spread from one computer to another over a network once the host application is utilized by the computer user (you).
  • Macro viruses are actually tiny programs on their own which can infiltrate an application program and then begin to replace normal programming code to cause unexplained and potentially destructive behavior, which may result in data loss and more.

Other virus types that are becoming more common and that you need to be aware of include:

  • stealth viruses which have the ability to hide from all but the best internet security programs,
  • time bomb viruses that are written specifically to become active on a certain date or time specified by their creator,
  • polymorphic viruses have the built in ability to actually change their code to fool basic anivirus scanning software until they are ready to strike,
  • multipartite viruses are a combination (or hybrid) of two or more viruses such as a boot sector virus and a file infector virus,
  • logic bombs are written to strike when a certain event, predetermined by their creator, happens. Until that time, they behave like a time bomb virus, lying in wait.

On final tidbit of information just in case you still are unconvinced of the seriousness and threats to your computer internet security posed by computer viruses. Depending on your information sources, estimates of new computer viruses discovered each month range from as low as 100 upwards to over 500! Clearly it is no longer a question of "if I do get a computer virus infection", but rather, "when I get a computer virus infection".

In my next articles we will discuss Antivirus software, what it does, how to tell if you have an infected computer and/or network, and what you need to look for in a good Antivirus software program for your internet security system.

Computer Internet Security: Dealing With Unwanted Visitors

By: Barry Kareful

If you are are a computer user of any type, recreational surfer, gamer, or internet marketer, the risk of a computer virus attack should not be totally new to you. Computer internet security is big business these days as evidenced by the many internet security products or internet security systems currently available to help protect your computer and/or network. With anywhere from 100-500 new computer viruses being discovered daily, this is a very profitable niche to be in at this time. Ideally most readers of this article will have some kind of computer internet security installed as most commercially sold computers do come with some sort of antivirus security pre-install and operating systems such as Window XP and Vista do have at least basic onboard programs running that will detect many common viruses, provided you do your updates on a regular basis. Unfortunately these "free" antivirus whether part of your computer O/S, pre-loaded on your computer or available as a download can only provide you with a basic level of protection. Certainly this not the best internet security available, but obviously much better than no virus protection at all. Any type of an antivirus computer internet security system will provide you with some sort of virus infection warning. Most often some sort of a scanning log that tells the computer user what was discovered and steps taken to deal with the virus threat. Unfortunately you get what you pay for with respect to antivirus programs, so the quality of the computer internet security software you have installed will determine just how many viruses types will be identified, (providing you do regular updates), and effectively dealt with. Unfortunately it is very possible that you may have viruses on your computer that your current antivirus program, or lack of one, may not even identify as being present. Despite the huge numbers of viruses lurking in cyberspace or hidden in infected software, there are some common characteristics that will give us strong clues that we have an unwanted visitor residing inside our computer. These clues include:

  • Unexplained keyboard problems such as keys suddenly not working or not doing what they normally should.
  • Programs loading and running much slower than normal.
  • Lost data files or files that mysteriously will no longer open.
  • Computer hard drive filling up for no explainable reason.
  • Display monitor showing unusual colors or letters moving towards screen bottom.
  • Appearance on screen of machine gibberish, silly messages, threats, etc. for no apparent reason.
  • E-mails sent from your computer to people in your address book, without your knowledge

Sadly the above list may not be all that is happening to your computer and/or network. Many viruses now operate in the background doing their dirty business without you knowing, such as the infamous "key logger" viruses, that can steal your passwords and credit information, then pass it on to their creator without your knowledge! Obviously when you become aware that there is a strong possibility that your computer and/or network is under attack, STOP using your computer system until you can deal with the threat effectively. This may mean buying and installing a good quality computer internet security software or upgrading what you have to something better. If you are a network user, notify your network administrator immediately of the attack to help prevent the virus infection from spreading to other users. Remember the best computer internet security starts with YOU, the computer owner-operator, and how willing you are to practice safe computing practices and to spend the money on the best internet security software you can afford.

How to find great computer wholesaler

By: davidzou

Not as many non-working laptops and monitors get thrown away in this day and age, as a lot more are being reused since worldwide markets make up new systems from the recycled computers.

In essence, the laptops and monitors that are thrown out to landfills have been blessed with a second life in brand new and well formed recycled electronic goods markets. A person might find computers as well as computer monitors at a computer wholesaler.

This is significant because people need cheap computers, occasionally used computers, since they can't afford brand new ones. This is mostly true since each year, technology evolves and computer prices raise as a result.

Most computer wholesalers provide customers with used technologies at highly unreal bargains. Wholesale computers may be so cost effective that you could be able to buy many laptops as well as computer monitors for the cost as just 1 at a retail laptop business.

The fast pace of technological development has rendered many previously owned laptops as unusable, however used computers are still capable of providing sufficient capabilities for normal utilisation. The mission of computer wholesalers, is to sell desktops as well as monitors and devices for a low cost.

A person can discover wholesale computers at any computer wholesaler in your area. To discover the top computer wholesaler near you, try finding one on Google or look in your local phone directory. A person can find a large variation of computer products at any wholesaler.

A person may discover anything like; webcams, microphones, memory cards and more types of computer accessories and parts. It's astonishing, the sorts of products a person may uncover when they visit a computer wholesaler.

Definition of A Survivable Computer System..

By: meghjeet

----------------------------
A computer system, which may be made up of multiple individual systems and components, designed to provide mission critical services must be able to perform in a consistent and timely manner under various operating conditions. It must be able to meet its goals and objectives whether it is in a state of normal operation or under some sort of stress or in a hostile environment. A discussion on survivable computer systems can be a very complex and far reaching one. However, in this article we will touch on just a few of the basics.

Computer Security And Survivable Computer Systems
--------------------------------------------------
Survivable computer systems and computer security are in many ways related but at a low-level very much different. For instance, the hardening of a particular system to be resistant against intelligent attacks may be a component of a survivable computer system. It does not address the ability of a computer system to fulfill its purpose when it is impacted by an event such as a deliberate attack, natural disaster or accident, or general failure. A survivable computer system must be able to adapt, perform its primary critical functions even if in a hostile environment, even if various components of the computer system are incapacitated. In some cases, even if the entire "primary" system has been destroyed.

As an example; a system designed to provide real-time critical information regarding analysis of specialized medications ceases to function for a few hours because of wide spread loss of communication. However, it maintains the validity of the data when communication is restored and systems come back online. This computer system could be considered to have survived under conditions outside of its control.

On the other hand, the same system fails to provide continuous access to information under normal circumstances or operating environment, because of a localized failure, may not be judged to have fulfilled its purpose or met its objective.

Fault Tolerant And Highly Availability Computer Systems
----------------------------
Many computer systems are designed with fault tolerant components so they continue to operate when key portions of the system fail. For instance; multiple power supplies, redundant disk drives or arrays, even multiple processors and system boards that can continue to function even if its peer component is destroyed or fails. The probability of all components designed to be redundant failing at one time may be quite low. However, a malicious entity that knows how the redundant components are configured may be able to engineer critical failures across the board rendering the fault tolerant components ineffective.

High availability also plays a role in a survivable computer system. However this design component may not maintain computer system survivability during certain events such as various forms of malicious attack. An example of this might be a critical web service that has been duplicated, say across multiple machines, to allow continuous functionality if one or more the individual web servers was to fail. The problem is that many implementations of high availability use the same components and methodology on all of the individual systems. If an intelligent attack or malicious event takes place and is directed at a specific set of vulnerabilities on one of the individual systems, it is reasonable to assume the remaining computer systems that participate in the highly available implementation are also susceptible to the same or similar vulnerabilities. A certain degree of variance must be achieved in how all systems participate in the highly available implementation.

What's The Difference Between An Attack, Failure, And Accident?
How Do These Differences Impact A Survivable Computer System
----------------------------------------------------------
In many cases when I am discussing the security of systems with customers, the question of business continuity and disaster recovery come up. Most companies that provide a service that they deem critical just know the system needs to be operational in a consistent manner. However, there is typically little discussion about the various events or scenarios surrounding this and that can lead to great disappointment in the future when what the customer thought was a "survivable computer system" does not meet their expectations. Some of the items I like to bring up during these conversations is what their computer systems goal and objective is, what specifically does continuous operation mean to them, and specifically what constitutes an attack, failure, or accident that can cause loss of operation or failure to meet objectives.

A failure may be defined as a localized event that impacts the operation of a system and its ability to deliver services or meet its objectives. An example might be the failure of one or more critical or non-critical functions that effect the performance or overall operation of the system. Say, the failure of a module of code that causes a cascading event that prevents redundant modules from performing properly. Or, a localize hardware failure that incapacitates the computer system.

An accident is typically an event that is outside the control of the system and administrators of a local / private system. An example of this would be natural disasters such as hurricanes, if you live in south Florida like I do, or floods, or wide spread loss of power because the utility provider cut the wrong power lines during an upgrade to the grid. About two years ago, a client of mine who provides web based document management services could not deliver revenue generating services to their customers because a telecommunications engineer cut through a major phone trunk six blocks away from their office. They lost phone and data services for nearly a week.

An now we come to "attack". We all know accidents will happen, we know that everything fails at one time or another, and typically we can speculate on how these things will happen. An attack, executed by an intelligent, experienced individual or group can be very hard to predict. There are many well-known and documented forms of attacks. The problem is intelligence and human imagination continuously advance the form of malicious attacks and can seriously threaten even the most advanced designed survivable computer systems. An accident or failure does not have the ability to think out of the box or realize that a highly available design is flawed because all participants use the same design. The probability that an attack might occur, and succeed may be quite low, but the impact may be devastating.

Conclusion
-----------------------------------------------
One of the reasons I wrote this article was to illustrate that it's not all about prevention. Although prevention is a big part of survivable computer system design, a critical computer system must be able to meet its objectives even when operating under hostile or stressful circumstances. Or if the steps taking for prevention ultimately prove inadequate. It may be impossible to think of all the various events that can impact a critical computer system but it is possible to reasonably define the possibilities.

Computer Repair 101 - 5 Free Tools to Speed Up Your Slow Computer

By: Bradley Chapple

Introduction

Is your computer not as fast as it used to be? Do you consistently get application crashes, "time outs" and the dreaded hourglass? When you press the power button on your computer in the morning, can you start the coffee, take a shower, style your hair and get dressed, all before your computer is finished booting?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, your computer needs more than another cup of coffee. It needs a tune-up. You probably already know that there are a myriad of ways that a computer repair professional can help you. But, unfortunately, not everyone can afford to call a computer repair specialist every time something breaks - especially those hardest hit by the current economic downturn.

I'll be honest, here. As a computer repair consultant and owner of a computer repair shop in Fort Collins Colorado, I am not one to suggest the use of free tools very often. When someone can afford to purchase software, I usually advise them to purchase a quality retail product, because the paid-for software is typically far superior and the user is entitled to support.

In my experience, free tools are usually either crippled versions of their related non-free products, or simply don't do a good enough job to be useful. But, there are a few free tools that are exceptions to that rule, and offer a good product for those who genuinely cannot afford to purchase off-the-shelf software.

So, with that being said, here are my 5 suggestions for free tools to speed up your slow computer. All 5 of these popular tools can be searched for and found easily through Google.

1. CCleaner

CCleaner is legendary for its usefulness in helping rid computer systems of any and all junk that has accumulated on a hard drive. However, there is a hidden gem in CCleaner: its ability to find and clean problems in the registry.

Using CCleaner once per week will keep your system running pretty smoothly all by itself. But, combining it with the other tools listed below will give you some synergistic results. For example, in our computer repair shop, we use CCleaner before any antivirus scan because it will help the scan go much faster (the resulting drive has fewer files to scan).

2. Startup Inspector for Windows

In case you didn't know, too many programs that load on start-up can quickly cripple a good computer. Limiting start-up programs to only the bare essentials is an excellent way to reclaim much lost speed. Some people even go to extremes and disable all start-up programs and non-Microsoft services, but that can have a negative impact on things such as backup schedules, antivirus protection, and useful keyboard shortcut keys.

Startup Inspector for Windows takes the guess work out of this process. Not only does this utility take the place of MSCONFIG's very limiting interface for managing start-up programs, but it also has the ability to access a database of known start-up programs. It will even give you suggestions for disabling certain applications, or leaving them intact so as to not limit the functionality of certain programs.

3. Malwarebytes

Nothing chokes a computer's speed faster than Malware. But, how do you sort the good from the bad? Is that toolbar you installed a bad program? How about that game you love to play online? Could that "coupon finding" toolbar that you just installed be a virus in disguise?

That's where Malwarebytes can help. It's one of the best free malware removal utilities that I know of. Many seasoned computer repair technicians swear by it. Although the free version of Malwarebytes is "crippleware" (the free version doesn't provide real-time protection), it does a very good job if run manually on a regular basis.

4. Avast Antivirus

Avast is a program that I've warmed up to over the years. As I stated earlier, I'm picky about that software I recommend. That goes double for antivirus protection, because antivirus protection is usually your only barrier between you and the scumbags of the Internet. I will never respect those who would steal and use someone else's identity and/or financial information to get something for nothing, rather than to work honestly for what they want.

If you absolutely cannot afford antivirus protection, do not go without it. Instead, download Avast Home Edition. Avast Home Edition is completely free, but you do have to register it before the 60 day trial has expired. Registration is free, and afterward you can use it for a year before having to re-register. In addition to being free, Avast works pretty well, too.

5. Defraggler

Without getting into the technical details of what fragmentation is, or how it happens, let's just say that if you haven't defragmented your hard drive lately, you are probably overdue. Defragging your hard drive is like reorganizing your storage closet. It makes things easier (and therefore quicker) to find.

There are very few tools that rival Defraggler. Although I tend to prefer Diskeeper more than Defraggler due to it's ability to perform real-time defragmenting, Diskeeper is not free. However, Defraggler is a close second to Diskeeper and is completely free of charge.

Coincidentally, Defraggler is made by the same company as CCleaner. It seems that Piriform is on a roll when it comes to developing and releasing free and useful utilities. Google the term "defraggler", download it, use it. Leave it running overnight, as it will probably take several hours to finish.

The Clean-Up Proces - Step by Step

The order you use these free computer repair tools are up to you, but as a professional who has done this more times that I can count, here is my recommendation for how to use these free tools to speed up your slow computer.

  1. Use Startup Inspector for Windows to remove unneeded programs from startup
  2. Reboot
  3. Use CCleaner to clean junk files from the system
  4. Clean the registry with CCleaner
  5. Reboot
  6. Update Malwarebytes and scan. Remove anything it finds.
  7. Reboot if it recommends you to do so.
  8. Update Avast and scan. It should quarantine anything it finds automatically.
  9. Reboot if needed.
  10. Use CCleaner (again) to clean up any junk left over from the virus removal.
  11. Yes, clean the registry with CCleaner one more time, also.
  12. Defrag the hard drive to reorganize the remaining "good" data on your drive.

Conclusion

In 9 out of 10 cases, using these 5 free utilities will have your computer back up to speed. If you properly utilize these tools and your computer is still not functioning properly, it doesn't mean that the tools did not work.

Perhaps your computer problem is beyond the scope of these tools. Maybe you don't have a sufficient amount of RAM memory. There is also a possibility that your computer has a serious hardware issue (such as a failing hard drive) which requires the attention of a computer repair professional.

Luckily there a hundreds of websites on the Internet that will provide free advice to those in need. They won't do the work for you for free, but will be glad to provide information and resources to help you help yourself. There are even a few that offer free video training on how to repair your own computer. By doing your homework and asking a lot of questions, you can learn to solve any computer problem without spending any money at all.

Good luck.

6 Must-Know Methods to Speed up Computer

By: Samaire Cage

Computer becomes slower and slower, when start computer, time for loading program becomes longer and longer. Didn't find any virus via Antivirus and everything seems as normal as before, so what's wrong with your computer? Then how to speed up your computer? Follow the step by step guide below, you may find the way to solve the tough program.

Clean and optimize your registry
Clean and optimize your registry first rather than add RAM or buy a new computer. Registry is the centre database of your computer operating system which contains information and settings for hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, and per-user settings. You must load the registry whenever you launch any programs on your computer. If the registry is too fat or with some errors, computer's performance will seriously be impacted.

To optimize your registry, there are 2 ways.

The first way is to clean your registry manually. But it is with high risk to do this if you are not a registry expert. The wrong deleting or modification in registry will lead a computer crack. Click the "Start" menu button to open the Start menu. Click "Run" Type "regedit" into the text field and press "Enter". Access the many different entries in your Windows XP registry. It is separated into primary sections: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, HKEY_USERS and HKEY_CURRENT CONFIG. Click the plus to find and delete entries in the registry that you know are either causing conflicts or no longer necessary.

The other way is to download a Registry Optimizer and scan your registry for free. If you are not familiar with registry, it is highly recommended to use Registry Optimizer.

Stop the unnecessary start-up programs
When you first log onto your PC, dozens of programs and services -- most of which you don't need -- start up automatically. Click Start, Run then a dialog appears, input msconfig in the blank and then click OK. Click the Startup label you can disable the unneeded startup programs.

Some Startup program cannot be found with msconfig commend, thus you need to edit your registry. To load your Windows Registry you can click Start, Run then input regedit. Now you have launched your Windows registry, you can do some modification with your registry. For example, if you want to disable the startup Print program, launch the Windows registry, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run, find the right key and disable it. It is not recommended for users unless you are familiar with Window Registry. If you have deleted the wrong key, your computer may collapse.

Clear the temporary files on your computer
The Temporary files may appear on the hard drive beginning with a tilde character (~) and ending with a .TMP extension. Tons of temporary files on your computer will slow down your computer so you need to clear them to speed up your computer.

The Browser History will not only waste your disk space but also expose your privacy. So at first you need to clear your Browser History. You can Click Safety menu on the upper-right of the Brower, then click Delete Browsing History. For other kind of temporary files, you need some professional tools to find and delete them.

Uninstall the unnecessary programs on your computer
If you have never used a program for 3 months, it is recommended to uninstall it to save your disk space. The traditional way to uninstall a program from your PC to click on START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, then find the program you want to remove and click "uninstall" beside it. Generally it works well but sometimes this may leave your computer stuck. Some program cannot be uninstalled by this method. The important thing you need to know is, an installed program has linked to the windows, and these links come in the form of registry keys which are stored in a big database called the 'registry. When uninstall a program completely, you need to remove these kinds of links also. Things always become complex when you need to remove data from registry.

Back up your registry
Before you do any modification in your system, it is better to back up your registry in case you made unexpected mistake in your registry. Click Start > Run and type regedit. On the File Menu, click Export...Name the file as registry backup and click save. To restore your registry backup, just double click it and press Yes.

Defrag your computer disk

When your computer writes information on your computer, a section of a file can be written near the beginning of the disc, whereas the rest of that file could be written near the end. The computer spends time in retrieving these file clusters from all over the disc so this causes programs to run slowly. A disk defrag is needed to speed up your computer. You can click Start, Accessories, System Tools, and Disk Defragmenter to defrag your computer disk. A frequent disk defrag is not recommended because it will be hard for your computer. Defragment it once a month is better.

The methods provided above are the most common ways to speed up your computer but also with high risk. If the registry keys are deleted wrongly, a system reinstallation is needed. The important information may lose and much time is needed. So if you are planning to optimize your registry, safety is most important and a registry optimizer is needed. There are many Registry Optimizers on net but few of them have integrated functions like clean and optimize registry, IE manager, Stat up manager, uninstall manager and back up tools. Wondershare Optimize Registry is just the integrated one.

How To Clean Up A Computer Registry

By: Jenny

The time will come when you will need to have a clean computer registry. You will know if it is the right time when your computer is crashing regularly, loading really slowly, or when you see a blue screen on your monitor. There are so many reasons why this happens to a lot of computer users around the world. In order for you to successfully tackle this problem, you will need to know the 3 major reasons for computer slowdowns or errors.

Click for Speed Up Your PC performance and Eliminate Errors

One of the main reasons for the problems your computer will encounter pertains to the errors in your computer registry. 90% of computer slowdowns and errors are caused by errors in the computer registry. The computer registry controls how the different hardware and application in your computer should run. The chances of these errors happening are quite high, especially with computers already running for more than a year. The best way to solve this problem is to always clean your computer registry. You can do this by simply downloading registry scanning software from the Internet.

Another potential cause of computer slowdowns and errors are adware and spyware. If your computer is connected to the Internet, then chances are your computer will acquire these two things. They just go into your computer system without you knowing it. These are malicious programs and their main purpose is to track whatever it is that you are doing. They will then send that information to the origin of the software or spyware. You can remove these malicious programs by downloading a spyware/adware cleaner onto your computer. This program will thoroughly clean your computer for you.

Click for Speed Up Your PC performance and Eliminate Errors

The last potential problem-maker for your computer is a computer virus. There is a possibility that a virus will contribute to the slowing down of your computer. It may even cause more problems like system crashes or corrupted programs. It can also destroy the files that you deem important. A virus scanner is an excellent way to detect this problem. Once detected, the scanner will destroy the virus and attempt to heal your infected files. It would be best that you set your scanner to files that you download from the Internet. You should also scan files from cds or floppy disks. If it is not from your computer, then be suspicious and do some scans.

There is one thing that you should never do and that is attempting to clean you computer registry on your own. If you do this on your own, chances are that your computer will not boot. Always use a registry cleaner so that you will have a clean computer registry.

Definition of A Survivable Computer _System

By: Ashay

The subject of survivable computer systems is actually one of complexity and ever evolving technology. This article has only touched on a few of the basic aspects of computer system survivability. I intend on continuing this article to delve deeper into the subject of survivable computer systems.

Computer Networking Services Florida

By: Giri - Austin Whitten

A computer network is the practice of linking two or more computing devices together for the purpose of sharing data. Networks are built with a mix of computer hardware and computer software. This interconnected system will share services and interact through a communications link. If data is being sent over the system then the individual computers must follow a set of common communication rules in order for the data to arrive at is correct destination. This is also vital for the systems to properly understand each other otherwise data will not be received. These rules are known as protocols.

So, in order for a computer network to be set up properly four things must be present: two or more systems, something to share (such as data), a communications link or physical pathway, and a set of rules for communication or protocols.

Wireless computer networking uses radio waves and/or microwaves to maintain open communication channels between computers. This version of computer networking is a more modern approach and is an alternative to wired networking. The advantages of wireless computer networking are that this involves mobility and the elimination of a copper or fiber optic cabling running between computers. However, a wireless computer network has the potential to have radio interference due to weather, other wireless devices or obstructions.

If you are unsure what type of computer network you would like you can have a trained professional come to your home, business, or other location and have them recommend what you need depending on what you are using your network for. You should always hire a trained computer specialist when setting up a computer network as there may be complications and it can be very difficult to learn how to set up a computer network by yourself.

Computer & Virus

By: Giri - Austin Whitten

A Computer Virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without the permission or knowledge of the owner. A virus, unlike malware, adware, and spyware programs, can only be spread from one computer to another in some form of executable code. This can happen because a user sent the virus over a network or the Internet or carried it on a CD, DVD, or USB drive. Viruses may increase their spreading capability by infecting files on a file system that is accessed by another computer. Viruses can cause harm to a computer system's data or functional performance.

Computer virus creators seem to forget that real people are damaged by these creations. Because of the wasted amounts of time and money in destroying these viruses the legal system is getting much harsher in punishing these creators. It is very important to protect your computer from viruses and perform a virus removal if you do have one on your computer. You should use a very secure operating system or if you are using an unsecured one then you should buy virus protection software. Also, you should avoid programs from unknown sources and stick with commercial software. And you should never double-click on an e-mail attachment that contains an executable.

If a virus has found its way to your computer then you know it is a frustrating ordeal. The viruses of today can be hazardous to your computer and can even steal your identity and wreck your credit rating, in addition to simply messing with other important things on your computer. You should always keep updated virus protection software and if you haven't purchased any before, you will for sure after you have had the virus removed from your computer.

First off you should try installing antivirus software if you haven't already. This isn't as good as already having it but it is a good first step if the computer has already been infected. You should also discontinue use of the computer and disconnect it from any network you may be one as you don't want to risk transferring the virus to other computers or files on the network.

Due to the increasingly complex codes that have developed in the past few years infections are involving more system elements than ever before. This means that it can be very difficult to remove these viruses and limit the amount of damage that the virus can do to your computer. You shouldn't risk damaging your computer more if you don't know how to remove the virus yourself. Although there will be a fee, it is best to call in the experts in order to protect your computer. Any specialist that performs the virus removal can also teach you how to protect your computer from viruses in the future.

If you do have a virus on your computer you should call a trained computer specialist for Virus Removal at once.
