The registry is a large database of information such as how to run programs, their locations, and where to find them. Whenever you use your computer, the registry is involved. If you install or uninstall a program, your registry is modified accordingly. If a virus attacks your computer, files of it may be found on your registry. If you install Windows updates, it is also affected. It is easy to see how the registry can be very error-prone.
